The University of Iowa has a robust network of resources to support students’ basic needs—ensuring that no Hawkeye must choose between their education and their well-being. The University of Iowa’s food pantry, Hawkeye Meal Share, and Emergency Fund help students meet basic needs while fostering dignity, support, and a sense of belonging on campus.

Need help?
The UI offers multiple ways to connect students, faculty, and staff with basic needs support, including:

Visit the Food Pantry on the ground floor of the IMU to pick up fresh groceries, hygiene products, and other necessities. They offer flexible hours to accommodate a wide range of schedules.

Hawkeye Meal Share aims to provide students facing food insecurity or emergency situations with access to nutritious meals in our university dining marketplaces. Meal swipes in quantities of seven are offered to eligible students as a short-term solution, depending on available donated swipes.

The Student Life Emergency Fund assists students who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event that would otherwise prevent them from continuing their education.
