Details:
- Iowa Cancer Research Experience (ICARE) Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship Program- Applications are accepted from everyone- All are invited to apply including individuals from a variety of lived experiences such as those living with a disability, individuals who are first generation high school or college graduates, those from rural or medically underserved communities or from families who are socially or economically disadvantaged
- Fellows must be a US citizen or permanent resident
 
 
- Applications are accepted from everyone
- ICARE seeks recent college graduates (fall 2025 or spring 2026) looking to gain more research experience and who have a career trajectory toward a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, DrPH) in a cancer-relevant field
- Applicants accepted with minimum GPA of 2.5; preference given to applicants with a GPA of at least 3.0
- Specifically, we have mentors looking for trainees who have completed a bachelor’s degree in biology or a health science field and have excellent written and verbal communication skills (click mentors link to learn more about research areas we are seeking candidates for)
- One-to-two year program starting August 2026
- ICARE fellows would receive stipend, benefits, professional development, and career coaching- More information on stipend & benefits
 
The ICARE Program will host three Virtual Information Sessions to go over details of the program and answer questions for interested applicants:
- Tuesday, December 2nd from 1:30pm to 2:30pm CST
- Friday, January 9th from 11:30am to 12:30pm CST
- Thursday, February 5th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm CST
